Friday, October 8, 2021 (Dubuque to Clinton, Iowa)

Waking up to mist but no thunderstorms so let’s get going.  The river has widen considerably but we are finding some areas that are shallow.  In fact, as we try to get slips going south, many of them only have a draft of 2-3 feet.  We draft 4.2 so we will see what happens for slips and how far we can go each day.  However, we stayed at the Clinton Marina which was beautiful.  As you view the pictures and look across the river we are looking at Illinois.  We were greeted by the most gracious marina manager who gave us the history of the marina which was very interesting.  Shortly before the sun was to set, the clouds moved and I was able to get some great pictures.  We had dinner outside on the deck at Candlelight Inn Restaurant.  No bugs and a beautiful evening.  We want to start out early in the morning and try to get at least 100 miles down the river which may take us 7-8 hours.  Remind you of a turtle?  LOL!!!! Enjoy the pictures.
