Wednesday, October 20, 2021 (Imperial, MO - Modoc, IL)

You truly never know what you will see on the river each day.  As we leave Hoppies Dock in Imperial,MO (you saw what that looked like, LOL) we are on our way to another first.  We are to tie up to Kaskaskia Lock and Dam wall in Modoc, IL.  Literally tie up to the lock wall. But first take a look at some of the absolutely beautiful homes with views of the river.

You will no doubt get tired of seeing so much industrial structures and barges but I find it interesting how large these operations are.  Maybe it’s because I am a city girl, but please bare with me.  The barges just get bigger and bigger.  So far, the largest has been 24 barges pushed by 1 big tug.

All in all it was a smooth and beautiful sunny day.

We are nearing the Kaskaskia Lock and Dam in Modoc, IL (???? Where is Modoc, IL, LOL!!!!), this is the entrance to our overnight destination……..

By now I am sure those of you reading this blog are questioning our sanity at times.  Frankly, so are we…..  But this is part of the adventure and look what we found at the lock.  It was a place to tie up to a concrete wall.  Nothing more, nothing less.

So I have true confessions!!! It has been my duty to make sure that I have some sort of excuse to NOT cook dinner.  However, so far my first homemade dinner was “burritos” last night at Hoppies and tonight my gourmet dinner was chicken covered with melted Gouda cheese and jalapeños, with long grain rice and tomatoe slices.  Jim had a smile on his face when I served it as he was worried that he may be eating Mac-n-cheese.  LOL!!!!

What a great day and a very quiet evening.  However, you can never get bored with the moon.

We are looking forward to a good nights sleep because tomorrow will be our first anchorage which means no sleep.
