Friday, November 5, 2021 (Columbus, MS - anchorage north of Demopoulis, AL)

It’s almost day break and ten of us started out.  I wanted to catch this picture as we were sneaking out of the marina right into the next lock which was called the Columbus Lock and Dam.

Fortunately we have not had any problems or issues in the locks tying up to Hallelujah.  The view along the water most of the day has been nothing but trees, therefore not very many pictures.   We have started to see a few pine trees along the way. As we passed through two more locks, Stennis Lock and Bevill Lock, I have counted only seven more locks to go.

Here is a history lesson for all of you reading.  Do you know what this little gem is?

Some of you may be saying that you are seeing things, some may think it is a photoshop and some may think it is an old fashioned telephone booth. LOL!!!  Well you are not seeing things that are not there, there is no photoshop involved and yes it is an old flashed telephone booth.  The significance of this little gem is that it is the state line from Mississippi into Alabama.

We are now seeing more homes that have that million dollar water view. Also a large renewal energy plant.

It’s been another long day but we are cranking it to get to Mobile, AL within 3-4 days.  Our anchorage is Warsaw Bay which turned out to be absolutely beautiful.  Take a look at the homes in this small bay.

The four of us, “Our Plan”, “Hallelujah”, “Thistle” and “Our Nauti Time” have decided to stick together. Such a great group of loopers that share so much information to help everyone along the way.  The pictures can’t really capture how beautiful and calm it is in the bay.  No current, no wind and absolutely no noise.

Well, there was some noise!!!!  We decided to have a pot luck on the Hallelujah.  Water taxi Doug from Thistle was our water Uber for the evening.

I don’t know how long these crazy people stayed up and played cards as Jim and I went back to the boat to regroup for the next day.  Our destination for Saturday is Demopoulis, AL.  Stay tuned.

  1. So happy you have found good people to boat with when your dock mates are not with you. Warmer weather lies ahead. We didn't know about the outside electrical breaker at first either, until we had a similar issue, then you'll never forget its there! Stay safe.
