Saturday - Monday, November 13-15, 2021 (The Wharf Marina, Orange Beach, AL)

We decided to take a longer R & R here in Orange Beach then we originally planned.  The weather has been in the 70’s with lows in the 40’s and sunny.  We walked and Ubered around to see the sights.  The Main Street had the Ferris wheel that you saw in the prior post and this little train. Of course, all we think about are those grand babies.

BOW THRUSTERS!!!

Well, we finally have isolated the problem with those damn bow thrusters. We were lucky to find a diver to go in the water to see if the props were still there and in good shape.  With that knowledge we were able to narrow the issue down to the gear box.  After many phone calls, Jim found the part but in order to install it the boat must be lifted from the water.  This is what we really didn’t want to do because it makes the planning difficult as there aren’t very many marinas with haul out capability.

Jim noticed some oil (oil that was not “IN” the engine, LOL) in the engine room so I added Engine Room Janitor to my many titles behind my name.  As I was cleaning I found a big bolt that came off of the engine mount.  Might want that screwed back on…..

These are a few of the beauties that are in the marina.

One of the fun places we visited was Flora-Bama.  So technically we have already set foot in Florida.  LOL!!!   Nonetheless, we leave tomorrow to make our way toward Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Panama City and Apalachicola, FL.  My next post will find us in Florida!!!!!

  1. I have been making some comments but not sure that they have gotten through. I will try again. Sure wish that we could have partied on with you at Flora-Bama. It is our favorite Red Neck Bar. Did you try a Bushwacker???? If not, you have to come back and have one with us. It was fun that you tied up at the Wharf. We arrive at our condo on Dec. 1. Your journey is fantastic!!!!

    1. From time to time we have heard others state they could not add comments. We are not sure why. Yes, we went to your favorite spot and tried a couple of drinks. Thank you uber. Sone of the large boats at the Warf are unbelievable. They make our 45 ft a dinghy. We are off to Panama City and looking for a weather window to cross the gulf. We will be back in Mpls for Christmas and New Years. Then to Clearwater Ft. Meyers. Marco Island and then Marathon. Sorry we missed you. Have a Happy Holiday season.

  2. I finally got caught up on a couple weeks of adventures. Congratulations on your completion of the river system! It looks beautiful there. Warm weather and palm trees there... a little snow and cooler weather here. Thanks for keeping up the blog. It is so much fun to live vicariously (if not jealously) through you. Looking forward to seeing you both in a couple months. Wishing you continued safe travels.
