Saturday, November 6 2021 ( Anchorage in Warsaw Bay - Kingfisher Bay Marina, Demopolis, AL)
Anchorage was the most peaceful, quiet and uneventful night possible. Seriously there was not a sound to be heard and the water was so still you thought you were floating on a cloud. PLUS THE ANCHOR HELD!!!! LOL. However I have to say that the morning was the most beautiful I have seen in many years. The fog delayed us about 90 minutes from when we normally start after our nights stay but OMG it was something to see.
We have this community of loopers who are on their VHF before dawn contacting the locks or just communicating about the weather with fellow loopers. There have been some excellent leaders in this communication that I believe live and die for this experience. And there are the others (like Jim and I) who are just following along and learning and know that we will be safe. As the communication with the Demopolis Lock and Dam is minute be minute, they finally give the okay that they can at least see boats in the lock. Well, thank you that is comforting. LOL! So, we start out slowly as the fog burns off. I truly have never seen anything so stunning as this morning.
This is “Our Nauti Time” compliments of “Our Plan”. Thank you Chris and Mike.
The sun was out smiling at us when we went through the Heflin Lock and Dam but we had many layers on. The temperature was still in the 40’s.We have merged into the Black Warrior River that is narrow and the water is an ugly brown. There is nothing on the shoreline to see or take a picture of for miles. But as we rounded a curve we approached these amazing white chalk cliffs.
We are on a mission to get to the Kingfisher Bay Marina in Demopolis, AL
Speed her up Caption Jim!!!
Our evening destination. We originally only made reservations for one night here then have a long heavy day on Sunday, but we are rethinking our plan. Once we get settled I need to find the washers and dryers for laundry time.
What a beautiful anchorage and morning. I am so glad you have met up with some wonderful people to buddy boat with. Miss you guys and can’t wait to see you in Florida!
