IT HAS BEEN A BUMPY RIDE!!!!! Gale winds are nothing to ignore. As I mentioned yesterday, we are on a “T” dock with no protection from the elements. The wind at it’s full glory was and still is going strong. Jim and I were up all night Friday as the boat rocked and rolled more then we have ever experienced. The waves (3 feet) here in the channel were catching the swim platform making loud bangs. Actually everything was making loud noises. We would go onto the bridge nearly every two hours to make sure we were still tied to the dock and that the canvas was intact. One of the times we checked the bridge, one of the zippers came unzipped and the isinglass (window) was flapping in the wind. It took awhile to be able to get it zipped again, but no damage. In the wee hours of the morning we started to hear a scrapping on the boat. After checking it out, the buoy slipped out from between the boat and the dock pilling. Nothing we could do as the wind was way to strong to even try to get on the dock. However, the good side of all this all night was that we were warm and found out that all of the lines stayed tight. It was good to see the sunrise but the wind kept on blowing.
As the tide changed we were finally able to get off the boat safely. We walked a bit around the resort and took the shuttle to Mucky Duck for lunch.
What a fun place as it is right on the beach. I want to go back when it is warm and play in the sand. We ventured out to see how Mother Nature was so unhappy. The swells in the Gulf were between 10-15 feet. Yikes!!!!
At least the sun was out but it’s like being back in Minnesota. Even if the sun is out that doesn’t mean that it’s warm. LOL!!!!
We finished our evening having dinner with Mike and Chris Brown (Our Plan) from Minnesota. It was fabulous to meet up with them since last seeing them before Thanksgiving. I loved sharing our stories with each other.
After getting back to the boat, it is still windy but not as bad as before. It will continue to be a loud night but I believe that we will sleep better as we are conditioned to the sounds and know that we will not go anywhere. LOL!!! Tomorrow is to be very cold with some winds but by Monday we should be warmer with hardly any wind.
