Saturday - Sunday, February 5-6, 2022 (Tarpon Point Marina, Cape Coral, FL)
The fun and sunshine just keeps coming!!!! On Saturday we drove to downtown Ft. Myers to meet with Eugene and June Jones (Barefoot Jones) from Arkansas. We first met them at Clearwater Harbor and have continued to keep in touch. We walked the Art Fest and enjoyed checking out the unique art. It reminded me of the Uptown Art Festival at home. I was proud of myself as I only purchased a T-shirt. LOL!!!! After walking the downtown area we stopped at The Lodge for dinner. It felt like we were Up North in Minnesota.
Mid February we will be moving to the same marina so we will be seeing Barefoot Jones again soon.
Sunday, February 6
It’s a busy weekend. Taste of the Cape opens for one day right here at the Marina. It’s a celebration of the culinary arts and live music. It did not disappoint us. We ate lunch and listened to great live music.
It’s time to leave the event and meet with Scott and Liz Zbikowski. They are from Minnesota where they still have a home in Lino Lakes. We hopped in their boat and cruised the canals and river then out into the Gulf.
While out in the Gulf we passed this shrimp boat. It was much larger then the one we saw in Mobile Bay.
A quick look see of Ft. Myers Beach…then into Moss Marina. We will be staying at Moss Marina later in the month.
This area was once the largest shrimp area in the world.
One of the “little” ships…… among the sailboats!!!
We then went to Sanibel Island briefly as well as Pine Island. This gave us such a great perspective of the area from the water.
And yes, or course, another boat left grounded.
It was approaching sunset so we traveled back through the river and canal to the Zib’s house. Out to dinner then played some “500”. What a fabulous day, AGAIN!!!!
