Tuesday, February 1, 2022 - Tween Waters Resort and Marina (Captiva Island) - Tarpon Point Marina (Cape Coral, FL)

All I can say is Wow!!!  Our short trip from Tween Waters to Tarpon Point was full of sunshine, boats and hardly any crab pods.  LOL!!!  The forecast for the week is more like Florida with high 70’s into the 80’s. Sorry my friends in Minnesota..

We delayed our departure from Tween Waters about 1 1/2 hours to wait for high tide to start rolling in.  There are several very shallow spots in the channel and we wanted to be sure of our clearance.



The sailboats were out.  We watched them for a little bit then cut across to the channel to get out of their way.  LOL!!



Just as we were entering the channel to the marina, we felt like we were back on Lake Minnetonka.  The boats were flying by us headed for the Gulf.



I mentioned feeling like a dingy when we pulled into Longboat Key Resort and Marina….  WELL, as we pulled into Tarpon Point Resort and Marina we felt like a row boat……………. No joke…


Two of our friends from Treasure Island Marina B Dock, Marty and Kim came to the boat for docktails.  They took us out to dinner and a tour of their beautiful new home in Cape Coral.  We hadn’t seen them since August so you can only imagine how much we talked.  LOL!!!!  They will be out of town for several days and loaned us their car.  YEA!!!!  Tomorrow we will be able to restock and explore the area.  Our plans are to stay here for several weeks then hopefully go to Ft. Myers for several weeks.  It just can’t get any better then this!!!

Thursday, October 21, 2021 (Modoc, IL - outside Cairo, IL) We had a fantastic nights sleep last night.  No barge traffic through the lock and dam all night.  We are still boating with the same 3 other boats and know that it will be a long day.  Jim checks the oil most mornings down in the engine room.  If the boat needs more oil all he needs to do is place a hose into the oil container, push a lever for which engine needs oil and turn a pump on!!!!  No muss, no fuss!!! We progressed down river all day with hardly anything to report.  Nothing but barges tied to the side of the water.  However we are seeing more and more dredging equipment.  The trees are green but I am missing my favorite season at home with the fall colors and falling leaves. Friday - Wednesday, March 11-16, 2022 (Legacy Harbour Marina- Sanibel Island) I was surprised that I hadn’t written in the blog for a week.  We have been enjoying the marina and downtown Ft.Myers.  Each evening we take a hike and find a different restaurant or I have even been cooking……..  LOL!!!! On Friday, March 11, Brad and Laurie Fleener flew in from Minnesota.  They arrived later in the evening so we just hung out and planned our days to come.   The weather on Saturday morning was beautiful to take a walk and stop at a fabulous farm to table restaurant to have breakfast and complete some errands. The flowers are so beautiful!!! As we were finishing our errands, the sky opened up and what a rain and wind storm.  Brad and Laurie were hanging onto each other walking back to the boats.  Since the docks are floating they were moving with the wind and so were we……. Welcome aboard “Our Nauti Time”!! Once we decided to tackle part of the Great Loop, we realized that our 26 foot cabin cruiser was certainly too small to live on for several months.  So, the search began!!  Most of you are aware that this is exactly what Jim loves to do…..SHOP and NEGOTIATE.  I was thinking that he would be showing me boats that were about 34 feet.  Yes, I was completely wrong!!!  Next thing I knew we were taking a little road trip to LaCrosse, WI just to look at this beauty.  She is a 43 foot Silverton Yacht that we ended up purchasing in the fall of 2020.  This past spring we drove her to Treasure Island Casino Marina where we spent a great deal of time this summer.  It has been a huge learning experience going from 1 engine to 2 and having a control panel taller than our youngest grandchild.  We were so lucky to have made many wonderful new friends on B Dock and shared unforgettable memories.  It was sad to say goodby...
