Friday, October 29, 2021 (Clifton, TN - Pickwick, MS (Safe Harbor Aqua Yacht Marina) OH MY GOD WILL IT EVER STOP RAINING!!!!!!! We got underway early as there is no telling how long it will take to get through the Pickwick Lock and Dam which is just north of our next stopping point. It has been chilly (in the 50’s) and we feel like we are back in Minnesota. There was not a lot to see until we got to Savannah, TN. The homes along the water were beautiful and spacious. (None of my pictures are very clear today with the rain and fog). Take a look at this beauty that passed us. It is the “Mimi” which is the Hubbard Broadcasting yacht, still owned by Stanley Hubbard. It’s 130 feet valued at $5 million. Our boat next to it looks like it’s dingy. LOL!!!! More awesome homes…… Did you notice the middle picture? It looked like they have already strung Christmas decorations on the fence. Now that’s planning ahead….. Just a pi...

Thursday, October 28,2021 (Johnsonville, TN- Clifton, TN (Clifton Marina) Rain, rain, rain again today. Not a thunderstorm but a steady little rain!!! Ugh! The trip down the remaining part of the Lake into the Tennessee River was uneventful and not a lot to see. We did approach this railroad bridge which was at first questionable as to whether we could clear it. But our leader, “Our Plan”, in the picture breezed under it so the rest of us followed without any problem. The water stayed wide for most of the journey. Just barely a touch of red in the trees. As we got closer to Clifton Marina (our destination) the homes along the river were beautiful and large. What a view but no access to the water. We have reached our destination, the Clifton Marina (Clifton, TN population 2,300) Within the next hour more and more loopers arrived. It doesn’t take long after the boats are secured that “docktails” begin. LOL!!!! Life is hard but someone has to do it...

Wednesday, October 27, 2021 (Grand Rivers, KY - Johnsonville, TN (Pebble Isle Marina) Good morning Green Turtle Bay and Resort!!! The boat “Our Plan” is our travel buddies for awhile. We traveled south on Lake Barkley which looks like a very wide river. The Kentucky Lake looks very similar to Lake Barkley but runs parallel to each other. We slipped through the Barkley Canal into the Kentucky Lake. Do you remember the Lock and Dam that we had to avoid because of the barge collision? Well, we are now on the back side of that lock and dam. It is a beautiful sunny calm day. The water is fairly clean and very deep (up to 65 feet). What the hell is this????? Jim says it must be leftovers from a time gone by. Incredible how this building is just in the middle of a deep lake!!! I couldn’t find any information on it. Google you disappointed me… I couldn’t resist capturing this picture of the sun peaking through the clouds. WE ARE IN T...

Sunday - Tuesday, October 24-26, 2021 (Grand Rivers, KY (Green Turtle Bay Resort and Marina) R&R was wonderful!!!! I would recommend Green Turtle Bay Resort to anyone. They have the amenities for any size family with or without a boat. There are condos and small and large houses to rent with on sight restaurants and a golf cart shuttle to and from the town. We went to the local grocery store and liquor store as it had been 3 weeks since buying groceries. I became so domestic that I actually made homemade spaghetti and a salad for dinner Sunday night. Yum!!! Yes, I mentioned before that I make excuses for not cooking but I was hungry for homemade. LOL!!!! Given the fact that we are in bourbon/whiskey country Jim found New Riff a local Kentucky bourbon (103 proof) that most northerners would not hear of. It was very good!!!! Here are some of the pictures of the resort and marina. On Monday we celebrated my birthday at dinne...

Saturday, October 23, 2021 (Paducah, KY - Grand Rivers, KY (Green Turtle Bay Resort) What a great stop in Paducah and a fairly good nights sleep. We walked to the farmers market and purchased a few of the local baked items. The temperature was in the 60’s and all of the natives were freezing. LOL, I was wearing a light weight long sleeve shirt….. Looking forward to today as we will leave the Ohio River and join the Cumberland River. As we are cruising along, the “American Duchess” passed us going downstream. It evidently is a boutique riverboat. As you can see it is raining fairly hard and the forecast is to be the same all day. There are two ways to get to Grand Rivers, KY from Paducah. Originally we were planning on joining the Tennessee River and go through the Kentucky Lock and Dam. However, the lock was closed because of a barge accident in it the night before. So go to plan B!!!! We continued on the Oh...
